West Coast University (WCU) and American Career College (ACC) are higher education institutions with campuses across California, Texas, and Florida. Supporting the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors across these locations requires centralized monitoring, coordinated incident response, and real-time situational awareness.

At the heart of these efforts is the institutions' Global Security Operations Center (GSOC), which serves as the central hub for security monitoring, communications, and incident coordination.

As operational demands continued to grow, WCU and ACC recognized the need to modernize their existing GSOC to better support their security analysts, integrate evolving technologies, and prepare for expanded 24/7 operations.

Modernizing a Growing Security Operation

The existing GSOC workstations were no longer meeting the demands of a centralized, multi-campus security operation. Limited workspace, inadequate cable management, and restricted technology flexibility made it increasingly difficult for analysts to efficiently manage multiple monitoring systems, communications platforms, and incident response activities.

The workstations also lacked the ergonomic adjustability needed to support extended shifts, creating an opportunity to improve both operator comfort and operational efficiency.

WCU and ACC needed a purpose-built solution that would maximize their existing space, accommodate multiple monitors and security technologies, and provide the flexibility to support future growth—all while minimizing disruption to ongoing security operations.

WCU and ACC selected six ergonomic, height-adjustable Vista consoles to transform their GSOC into a more functional, organized, and professional command center.

Configured to support 18 monitors across six operator positions, the new consoles provide analysts with the workspace and technology integration needed to manage multiple security systems simultaneously.

Russ Bassett leveraged its strategic partnership with Gerflor to coordinate multiple elements needed for the room renovation, including a customized flooring solution built for the demands of 24/7 security.
